Working at LawConnect was a very positive experience. My tasks were varied and engaging: I learnt to draft legal documents, liaise with clients, and handle cases at various stages of litigation. I gained experience with the litigation process in a hands-on and practical manner. Most important of all, I worked under an encouraging and supportive mentor. Ms. Mala Ravindran’s ability to teach and convey legal concepts is matched by her genuine warmth and sincerity. She is an approachable, kind, and patient mentor. She sees the best in her trainees and her clients, and is unparalleled in her sincerity and dedication to her practice. I believe I benefited immensely from her guidance.

During my 1-year stint as a Practice Trainee for my Relevant Legal Training (RLT) and my Practice Training Contract, I had the opportunity of working on a variety of different fields of law under the guidance and supervision of an experienced senior lawyer, Ms Mala. Through working on the tasks assigned to me, I was able to hone my research and drafting skills. However small the extent of work given to me, it did not go unrecognised. Ms Mala went to great lengths to take time off from her busy schedule to ensure that I was always on the right track by offering me feedback and advice on my work and how I could better myself to achieve the best results for the firm and most importantly, the clients. My time at LawConnect LLC was a fulfilling and enriching one!

My internship experience at Law Connect LLC was certainly an enriching one. I appreciate the fact that we were given the opportunity to carry out tasks at various stages of the proceedings, from taking clients’ instructions and drafting legal documents, to attending court sessions and finalising billing matters. I came away not only with a deeper understanding of the various court processes and procedures, but also a better appreciation of the lawyering skills that are crucial for practice. It certainly helps to have a good mentor in Ms Mala who was always patient with my questions, and whose serendipitous coffee breaks in the afternoons were always a much-welcomed treat!

In my recent stint interning at Law Connect LLC under the tutelage of Ms Mala, I have gained valuable experience and knowledge spanning a variety of practice areas. For the most part, I worked on accident and medical negligence cases, which allowed me to familiarise myself with the field of personal injury and the day-to-day issues that claimants face. I was also exposed to corporate law issues and the drafting of agreements, as well as the drafting of summonses and affidavits. Additionally, in accompanying Ms Mala to court, I have become more well-acquainted with the process of criminal and civil litigation. Most importantly, through this internship I have become better able to independently take on tasks, conduct legal research and find resources on my own, which I believe will serve me well in the future.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time interning at Law Connect LLC and I felt that the experience was very beneficial for me, ………. I had many different tasks to do that allowed me to discover exactly what working as a lawyer would involve. My favourite part of the internship would be the court attendances, as it allowed me to see how each type of court works within Singapore, compared to back home in the UK. I felt very involved with each case that I worked on and would love to return and learn more.

During my internship with LawConnect LLC, I gained hands-on experiences ranging from interviewing clients, managing files, accompanying her to court attendances and drafting legal documents. Additionally, I was able to see the process from start to finish, allowing me to understand where my work fits in to the bigger picture. Since I encountered new and unfamiliar cases, I had to undertake research beyond what is taught in school, which was enjoyable for me. My mentor, Ms Mala, was patient in explaining both the legal and practical aspects of her work, and I learnt a lot during my time there.

My experience with you was quite insightful, as it was my first time being in a law firm doing litigation work. One positive about working in your firm was the chance to do actual work. You allowed me to try drafting letters, documents, affidavits and so on. I enjoyed that part of the internship. Secondly, I also appreciated the chance to have a small amount of client contact; that was also instructive. I hope I was able to be of some help to you too.

My internship at Law Connect LLC was certainly a worthwhile and valuable experience. It was my first legal internship, and it was intriguing to witness the application of legal concepts learnt in the classroom to ongoing cases. During the three months stint, I was assigned a myriad of tasks – drafting legal documents, conducting targeted research, and I was even given the opportunity to attend client meetings. I was under the guidance of Ms Mala, and she definitely added much value to my learning. Ms Mala provided timely feedback, and carved out time from her hectic schedule to explain parts of the law and the litigation process that I had not encountered before and was unclear of. Ms Mala was very patient, and went above and beyond in making this experience a very enriching one for me. I was also able to become a better student, now knowing how to better approach the legal issues. I have undeniably gained lots of skills from this internship, all of which will serve me well in future.

My experience at LawConnect was truly an eye-opening one. During my time at LawConnect, I mainly worked on personal injury and medical negligence cases where I sit in at meetings with clients as well as without prejudice meetings with opposing counsels. At LawConnect, I was also given the opportunity to research on a wide variety of criminal and civil matters, and draft a wide range of court documents. After assigning the various tasks to me, Ms Mala would take the time to sit with me and run through the documents I drafted and give feedback so that I could work on the second draft. I have gained many invaluable skills and hands-on experience from this internship which would definitely help me in the future.
